contact between general john allen, and jill kelley. yesterday, secretary panetta asked that john kelley -- or john allen's nomination to be the head of nato be pulled back and put on hold while the inspector general starts to dig through all of these pages to find out exactly what happened. here's how it all connects. general john allen was stationed in tampa when he was at u.s. central command. so was general david petraeus. jill kelley worked as sort of a social liaison with a lot of the commanders there. in fact, she's been -- won awards for her work with some of the military families, and the military down there. now, paula broadwell started e-mailing jill kelley. and from what we know, some of those e-mails basically took the tone of, you know, stay away from david petraeus, sort of, i know sort of your relationship with some of these other generals, it's inappropriate. at the time it didn't make sense. because what we've been told is, david petraeus and jill kelley are family friends. that david petraeus and his wife holly have spent time with jill kelley and her husband. that the

the airplane of leon panetta flying overseas that upon john allen, the general in charge of the troops in afghanistan, was now under investigation for potentially inappropriate e-mails and communications with jill kelly, who is the tampa socialite-- it's so hard, you really need a flow chart-- very dramatic, very tailed senior denseffial talking on background. but today, leon panetta was saying we're not coming to any conclusions. he was out on camera saying he's a great guy, and a great leader. and i think he got pushed back from the white house that probably wasn't that happy they went out and kind of threw john allen under the bus so quickly. but i-- you know, on first blush, this is nothing like petraeus. on the other hand, you've got a general in afghanistan back and forth, 12emai a day with this socialite in tampa who they say are friends of theirs. i think there's still a possibility that some e-mails may have been inappropriate. that's why doing this investigation, that's why they don't want to clear him right away. it's also that issue of when you think about it, going into pr
secretary leon panetta said there was a dramatic turn in the case. fbi investigators uncovered potentially inappropriate communications between the general and jill kelley, whom he and his wife got to know in tampa. and were reviewing between 20,000 and 30,000 pages of documents including e-mails over two years. officials say some were flirtatious, but the general strongly denies an improperly relationship. the fbi discovered them during its investigation of kelley's e-mails sparked by her complaints about anonymous threats which turned out to be from paul broadwell and found no wrongdoing by general allen but turned the files over to the pentagon which monday ordered its inspector general to investigate. a social link between the two four-star generals, jill kelley, who enjoyed socializing with the powerful in tampa while doing volunteer work for military families. she also gave people the impression she had some kind of state department status which officials say she does not. in fact, last weekend she called police complaining about media visitors including nbc. at one point invoking di
